注：2016 年澳大利亞最新EOI技術移民政策下評分標準，總分140分，通過分60分，適用於 189，190，489，2012.07.01 起執行。
該評分標準與2011年的評分標準變化不大，最大的變化首先是算分的基準是EOI髮出邀請時（而不是提交EOI在線申請時）。EOI下，澳大利亞SkillSelect類別的通過分調整為60分，比2011年降低了5分，這樣可以有更多的申請人可以獲得遞交機會。另外2012年的評分標準中工作經驗要求放寬至近10年（原先是3年中1年，5年中3年，7年中5年，10年中8年），雅思成績的有效期變為3年。
其他基本沒有變化，海外工作經驗和澳洲工作經驗可以累計加分但最高只能得20分。要想獲得社區語言加分需要最少通過NATTI 2級（para-professional level or above）。配偶加分還是要求通過職業評估，雅思4個6，職業與主申職業在一個列表上（都在 SOL 上的可以給 189 加分，只在 CSQL 沒在 SOL 上的只能給 190 加分）。
