如果在澳洲開車髮生違章，一般都會以信件的方式收到罰單，有的時候如果是被警察攔停也有可能在現場直接給罰單。
不管是以信件還是現場收到的罰單，上面都會清楚的寫明妳的罰單號和詳細的違章內容。如果違章事實存在，但只是輕微的超速，以及首次，那麼有很大的機會是可以申請豁免掉而改成“警告Warning”的。
一般以信件形式收到的超速罰單，如圖下（攝像頭拍攝到的超速）：
（注：澳洲曾今出現過“假罰單”的詐騙，如果對自己收到的罰單存在疑問，可以在網上搜出Fines Victoria的官方聯係方式，打電話過去進行確認）
罰單中包括：
超速的日期；
時間；
允許的速度；
測到的實際速度；
駕照罰分；
罰款金額；
繳納罰金的方法；
需要交納罰款的截止日期 - 這個很重要，逾期會罰款金額會增加。
在澳大利亞州維多利亞州，管理各種罰款的政府部門叫“Fines Victoria”，而不是警察部門（注：澳洲警察擁有執法權和處罰權，所有的罰款都是整個州政府管理，很多謠言說的“指標”“獎金”是無稽之談）

哪些情況可以申請申訴
罰款的決定和相關的法律是相悖的；
妳確實違章了，但是有特殊原囊身份搞錯了
妳不知道整個罰單的存在，並且這個罰單不是當面給妳的
妳有特殊情況，這個可能是
智力殘疾；
精神疾病；
對毒品或酒精嚴重上瘾；
無傢可歸；
傢庭暴力，等。
對於超速25公裹以上（或者限速110駕駛超過130km/h），酒後駕駛，吸毒駕駛這類是不在申訴範圍內的。而上述的原因有可能都需要妳提供相關的證據。
Fines Victoria在收到妳的申訴申請後90天內出結果，一旦做出決定，他們會以郵件方式通知，而可能的結果包括：
罰單被撤回，沒有進一步針對妳處罰；
罰單被撤回，會給妳一個“官方警告”
請將此事提交給地方法院（需要上庭）
免除或更改與罰款相關的任何費用；
免除或更改罰款所施加的任何額外處罰措施（比如扣分等）
批準可以分期付罰單
維持原來的罰單
超速罰單申訴
而對於超速罰單，如果超速低於10km/h的，會有另外的方式“內部申訴”，不過這個內部申訴一定要在繳納罰單的截止日期之前申請

符合哪些條件可以申訴：
超速低於10km/h的；
在過去的2年，沒有收到任何交通罰單或者官方警告；
比較好的駕駛歷史記錄。
這個申訴必須通過書寫的方式申請，申訴信郵寄到下面的地址：
